Have you ever noticed how much we take our own backyard for granted? If the last two years of sticking to our own country has taught us anything, it’s that New Zealand, and Kapiti in particular, is full of beauty, interest and stunning landscapes!
We love that the last two years have forced us to appreciate what’s right in front of us!
There are a few places that are on our list to try and need to be on yours too!
1. Starlight Arcade
With it being a little colder at the moment, fun indoor activities for the family are a must! We love the Starlight Arcade right here in Kapiti! It’s new and so much fun for the kids! With a whole bunch of arcade games for the whole family, make sure you head there (especially in this cold winter weather!) and exchange your tickets for some awesome prizes!
2. Dreamscape Glamping
Okay, need we say more?! A weekend away in a beautiful luxury tent?! Yes please! This is not your typical camping trip. This is a stunning atmospheric set up to relax, rejuvenate and pamper its guests! You’ll have everything you need; some things you already have at home, and many that will treat you! Just a short drive away from the Kapiti Coast, gather your loved ones and friends, wrap up warm and come take in the views on a weekend away.
3. Joe & Joy
A beautiful business on the Coast, Joe & Joy is a must-try! Stocked full of freshly baked goods and backed by an amazing couple, Joe & Joy can be enjoyed for a weekend brunch, your weekly (or daily…) coffee, or even at a birthday with their delicious range of cakes! They are not just your local cafe. They are a catering business, a cakery and an online bake shop! We’re always keen to try a new eatery and this one must be added to your list if you haven’t tried it already!
4. Shoreline Cinemas
Another option if you’re looking for an indoor activity! Shoreline Cinemas is such a sweet, comfy spot to head and watch a movie! With a relaxed, family friendly vibe, we love heading here! You get the benefits of a big movie theatre but still feel like you’re in the comfort of your own home! Think: couches, bean bags and cushions - we’re sold already!
5. Paekakariki Escarpment Track
If you’re more of the outdoors type, you might want to check out Paekakariki Escarpment Track. Suitable for walking and trail running, take in the true beauty of Kapiti Island from high above the beautiful Kapiti Coastline. Named one of the region’s finest walking experiences, this walk is stunning and well worth the few hours!
